Against Me! - As The Eternal Cowboy

As The Eternal Cowboy:

As the Eternal Cowboy is the second full length release from the punk rock band Against Me!. It is their debut release for Fat Wreck Chords. The decision made to jump from No Idea Records to Fat Wreck caused the band to alienate some fans, many of whom accused the band of "selling out" and losing their DIY ethics. This release was also characterized by controversy due to its production; some regarded it as sterile, polished, and uncomplimentary to otherwise good songs. In terms of songwriting, Gabel himself (the key songwriter on this record) has described it as being "more punk" than previous efforts. In addition, the song structure shows a move away from the large, anthemic choruses that drove much of the previous LP.

On this recording, and every recording since, Against Me! is Tom Gabel, Warren Oakes, James Bowman, and Andrew Seward.

Track listing

  1. "T.S.R. (This Shit Rules)" – 1:35
  2. "Cliché Guevara" – 2:09

Afroman - Waitting to inhale

Born in South Central, Los Angeles, Afroman moved to Palmdale, California as a teenager and then to Hattiesburg, Mississippi. His best-known song is the 2001 novelty song "Because I Got High", which gained popularity through Napster, local radio play, a feature on Howard Stern's radio show, and the "stoner" movie Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (and accompanying soundtrack). His other most popular song, "Crazy Rap", which has also gained popularity through P2P clients, is mostly referred to as "Colt 45". The lyrics of the songs on "Afroholic" begin with references to drugs and sex but then the last verse is usually about how Afroman has now found Jesus. In an interview for the program '50 Greatest One Hit Wonder' on British Channel 4 broadcast on 7 May, 2006, he stated that he had given up alcohol, smoking, sex and women for a while but had returned to them. He further stated that he was going to be the best alcohol drinking, marijuana smoking, woman-chasing Christian there was.

HIM's fifth studio album, 2005's Dark Light, became the band's full breakthrough in the US, debuting in the top 20 of the Billboard Top 200 and spawning two major rock hits, "Wings of a Butterfly" and "Killing Loneliness", both of which have accompanying videos. In the summer of 2005 they played the mainstage of Download Festival with Black Sabbath and Velvet Revolver.

Jagged Little Pill is the third studio album and the first internationally released album by Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette. Released on June 13, 1995 (see 1995 in music), the album broke into the mainstream with Morissette's confessional and emotional lyrics and vocals. Blake O - Buckle Down

Buckle Down:

CD Review:
Blake O. -- Buckle Down
By: NONzine

...and from out of nowhere appears a new star, just like a supernova in the sky. Have you heard of Blake O. yet? Believe me fellow Okies, you will. Why? Because, when you go to the myspace page of Neal Pogue and read his “about me” paragraph, you’ll see Blake O. mentioned there, alongside Neal’s past credits of producing all of Outkast’s hits (from Southernplayalisticadillacmusik to SpeakerBoxxx/The Love Below, which he won a grammy for Album Of The Year), TLC’s “Waterfalls”, Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle...well, you get the point. BIG TIME! It’s a classic story in the making. A determined mid-western white boy struggles in L.A., and finally manages a few minutes with a major producer, who says yes. We here at the NONzine office don’t often listen to hip-hop, but this one caught our attention. Blake O. brings a wide range of influences into his style, including his own guitar playing.
